The Colorado Rockies finished in last place in the NL West with a 68-94 record, so obviously they head into this offseason with major improvements needing to be made especially with their pitching staff. However, they have done absolutely nothing so far this offseason to fix their issues. All that general manager Jeff Bridich has done is to release a lot of players like John Axford and 1st basemen Wilin Rosario. Also, he traded key players a year or two ago by getting rid of Rex Brothers and Tommy Kahnle for basically nothing in return. Colorado isn’t the place that many pitchers want to go. However, they need to make a big free agent signing rather than just hoping that their draft picks can develop in a few years. Bridich has a similar style to former GM Dan O’Dowd considering that Bridich was already in the front office when O’Dowd was the GM. That is why the Rockies should have looked outside of their organization to get a new general manager rather than just promoting Bridich to the position because he has the exact same style. Bridich needs to see how to improve the team this offseason and actually do something about it which he has failed to do so far.
